In attempting to pull together best practices for NATO StratCom CIP actions such as the Commanders Handbook and other such tasks, it would be important for NATO to identify clearly what can social media (or more broadly, new media) contribute to each of the discipline areas in the coordination performed by strategic communications professionals? For example, how can social media contribute to public affairs? That's most obvious, but what of social media's contribution to Computer Network Operations? Electronic Warfare?Military Deception? Should NATO discover how social media could be helpful to those areas too? Gathering ideas on those more challenging and sensitive discipline areas can help ACT contributeand be prepared with contingency plans forfuture NATO operations.
